چکیده

Abstract A numerical study is presented that deals with the flow in mold of a continuous slab caster under influence DC magnetic field (electromagnetic brakes (EMBrs)). The arrangement and geometry investigated here based on series previous experimental studies carried out at mini-LIMMCAST facility Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR). models ruler-type EMBr installed region ports submerged entry nozzle (SEN). current article considers magnet strengths up to 441 mT, corresponding Hartmann number about 600, takes electrical conductivity solidified shell into account. model turbulent applied implemented using open-source CFD package OpenFOAM®. Our results reveal growing magnitude may cause reversal direction meniscus surface, which related formation “multiroll” pattern mold. This phenomenon can be explained as classical magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) effect: (1) closure induced electric not primarily braking Lorentz force inside jet but an acceleration regions previously weak velocities, initiates opposite vortex (OV) close mean jet; (2) this develops size expense main until it reaches where becomes clearly visible. We also show must expected when smaller than critical value. due transfer kinetic energy from structures flow. further increase intensity leads damping and, consequently, reduction upper roll. These investigations cannot reduced simple effect; depending strength, its action found topologically complex.

this research aims at answering the questions about translation problems and strategies applied by translators when translating cultural concepts. in order to address this issue, qualitative and quantitative study were conducted on two groups of subjects at imam reza international university of mashhad. these two groups were assigned as beginner and advanced translation students (10 students). ...

Electric Power Generation with Reverse Electrodialysis

The computer simulation program of a practical scale reverse electrodialysis process has been developed based on the program for saline water electrodialysis. The program is applied to compute the performance of an industrial-scale reverse electrodialysis stack (effective membrane area S = 1 m × 1 m = 1 m2, cell pair number N = 300 pairs). The stack operatingconditions are optimized. Seaw...

On-Off Tremor Suppression Orthosis with Electromagnetic Brake

Pathological tremor is a common neurological movement disorder characterized by involuntary rhythmic oscillation of body parts. Available treatments are often insufficiently effective or are accompanied by severe side effects. This work proposes a lightweight, portable elbow tremor suppression orthosis using an electromagnetic brake (EB) with on-off actuation scheme. The device reduces tremor a...

Electromagnetic bubble generation by half-cycle pulses.

Electromagnetic (EM) bubbles (EMB's), unipolar, super-short, and intense nonoscillating solitary pulses of EM radiation, can be generated in a gas of nonlinear atoms by available half-cycle pulses (HCP's). We investigate how EMB's characteristics (amplitude, length, formation distance, and total number) are controlled by the amplitude and length of originating HCP's. We also predict shocklike w...

Releasing the Cortical Brake by Non-Invasive Electromagnetic Stimulation? rTMS Induces LTD of GABAergic Neurotransmission

Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) is a non-invasive brain stimulation technique which modulates cortical excitability beyond the stimulation period. However, despite its clinical use rTMS-based therapies which prevent or reduce disabilities in a functionally significant and sustained manner are scarce. It remains unclear how rTMS-mediated changes in cortical excitability, whic...
